Each Sunday morning during our 10:00 am service we have Sunday School classes for our children. There are three classes; Nursery and Preschool, Kindergarten through Third Grade, and a Fourth and Fifth Grade small group. The Nursery and Preschool class is in the main sanctuary on the right-hand side when you walk in. These children get dropped off at the beginning of the service. Their time in class is filled with love, singing, a short story, and playing. The rest of the children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) join the adults in the sanctuary for intergenerational worship. After worship, the children are called onto the stage to get prayed for then they are dismissed to their classes (in the education building). The Kindergarten through Third Grade class uses the D6 curriculum that helps to form a Biblical worldview. In one quarter (3 months) they are learning about stories from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and a Special Topic. Their class time is filled with a worship time of dancing and instruments, a Bible lesson, a game or activity to reinforce the lesson, a journaling time, crafts, and a snack. The Fourth and Fifth Grade Small Group is learning how to do inductive Bible Study. This quarter they are learning how to study God’s Word, and then they will be jumping into the book of John. Their class time is filled with fellowship, Bible Study and discussion and then they spend time working on a group project (that takes many weeks to complete) together that gets presented to the congregation upon completion. Children are picked up in class after service is over. At Almaden Neighborhood Church, we strive to make disciples who make disciples. Sunday School is one way this happens.
