Children’s Ministry

Kingdom Kids

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”~Matthew 19:14

At Almaden Neighborhood Church, we strive to love God, love others, and make disciples.  One way we do that is by pouring into children. Our goal as a children’s ministry team is to assist parents in teaching the next generation about who God is. To share the love of Jesus Christ with each child in a way that ignites a desire within them for a personal relationship with Him. And to train them how to be a follower of Jesus through the study and application of God’s Word.  We have many free programs in place to help with this goal. From Stay & Play (for children ages newborn to 5 years old) to Children’s Choir (ages 4 years old to 2nd grade), to a Drama Team (3rd grade and up) to Kids Clubs at Greystone and Williams Elementary to weekly Sunday School classes and a summer Vacation Bible School there is something for every age.

Our Sunday School

Sundays @ 10:00 AM

Each Sunday morning during our 10:00 am service we have Sunday School classes for our children. There are three classes; Nursery and Preschool, Kindergarten through Third Grade, and a Fourth and Fifth Grade small group. The Nursery and Preschool class is in the main sanctuary on the right-hand side when you walk in.  These children get dropped off at the beginning of the service.  Their time in class is filled with love, singing, a short story, and playing. The rest of the children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) join the adults in the sanctuary for intergenerational worship. After worship, the children are called onto the stage to get prayed for then they are dismissed to their classes (in the education building).  The Kindergarten through Third Grade class uses the D6 curriculum that helps to form a Biblical worldview. In one quarter (3 months) they are learning about stories from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and a Special Topic.  Their class time is filled with a worship time of dancing and instruments, a Bible lesson, a game or activity to reinforce the lesson, a journaling time, crafts, and a snack.  The Fourth and Fifth Grade Small Group is learning how to do inductive Bible Study.  This quarter they are learning how to study God’s Word, and then they will be jumping into the book of John.  Their class time is filled with fellowship, Bible Study and discussion and then they spend time working on a group project (that takes many weeks to complete) together that gets presented to the congregation upon completion. Children are picked up in class after service is over.  At Almaden Neighborhood Church, we strive to make disciples who make disciples.  Sunday School is one way this happens.
