The Silent Answer

The Silent Answer

Talk less, pray more. How do you determine when to speak and when to stay silent? Do you ever say things that you regret? Do you sometimes wish you had said something but now the moment has passed? Words are powerful. It is easy to become reckless with our words and use them in a reactive way. Especially in times of crisis or conflict, we often use them to defend ourselves and get our point across. However, if we look to Jesus as our model we will observe that when He spoke it was not to defend himself or pursue his own cause. He spoke to benefit others and to obey God’s leading. In fact, at the moment when he could have used words to save his own life, he chose to say nothing. So how can we know when to be silent, when to speak and what to say? We listen to the Holy Spirit and follow Jesus’ example.
