“Justice and Mercy”
This Sunday, we’ll be looking at Genesis 18:16-19:29 which includes the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. This passage raises many difficult questions. How can a loving God bring judgment? How can a just God show mercy? What does this mean for our world today?
As we explore this passage together, we will find that God’s justice and mercy are not competing qualities. They are held together and meet perfectly in Jesus Christ. He stands in justice against evil and also makes a way for sinners (all of us) to be saved through grace. Join in as we learn more about the “Justice and Mercy” of God and what it means to us today.
This Sunday is also, Great Commission Sunday as we raise awareness of the missions work that we are partnered with through the Alliance around the world. Just as Abraham interceded and pleaded for the city of Sodom, we are called to reach out and pray for our neighbors, our community and the nations. We’ll be taking a special offering this month and you can designate “Missions” to a portion of your in-person or online giving which will be used to support international workers through the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
