REACHING BEYOND
We have built a new 4,700 square foot Neighborhood Center that will house a community room, youth room and children’s classrooms. These new facilities will provide us better space for our existing programs while also allowing us to expand into new areas of ministry. The Neighborhood Center is completely handicap accessible and will enable us to start ministries and groups for special needs adults and children in our area. We will also be able to enlarge our children’s summer camp program, provide an assembly space for community gatherings and become a regional polling place for elections. The Neighborhood Center will serve as a safe place for teenagers to come for our weekly youth groups as they form community and find purpose in a healthy atmosphere. We are also excited to be able to use these fully accessible new facilities to reach out to special needs children, young adults and their families to provide a welcoming place to love and equip them.
In 2020, we completed Phase I of the project! The first stage of this project included paying all of the city permits and fees, trenching for utilities, running utility lines to the building site, upgrading water meter, changing from septic system to sewer, installing fire hydrant on site, improving driveway and sidewalks, excavating and grading foundation site and pouring concrete pad for the foundation of the building. All of this is done and paid for.
The next phase starts soon! This Spring, we hope to begin construction on Phase II of the Neighborhood Center. This includes erecting the wood frame structure for the building, installing all doors and windows, installing shingle roof, installing all exterior siding and stucco and pouring concrete sidewalks around the building. At the end of this phase we will have a weatherproof shell for our building!
