“Eternity in the Heart”

The Bible says that “there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). That means that we have seasons in our lives where certain things are appropriate and expected but when the season changes the expectations and the actions change. This works in the natural world as well as we adjust our lives when the weather changes. We don’t expect to go snow skiing in July or go swim in the ocean in February (although some of us find a way!). It is easier to be aware of the natural seasons in our weather than it is to be aware of the seasons in our lives. Some of us are still living in the past expecting things to be as they used to be and behaving in a way that used to be appropriate but no longer is. Some of us are living in the future planning for what will be but ignoring what currently is. This Sunday, we’ll be looking at Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 as we look to be aware of the seasons God has placed us in and have the larger understanding that God has placed “Eternity in the Heart”. When we can take on an eternal view of our lives it frees us up to fully engage with each season and live the fullness of each moment.
