“The Other Side Of Christmas”
The Christmas story shows us that Christ entered the world to bring hope, love, peace and joy. But when we look around this world over 2,000 years later it seems like those things are still hard to find. There is still evil in this world and terrible things that happen every day. So what happened? Did Christmas really make any difference? Of course, we know that the answer is yes. Christ has victory over evil but the evil isn’t destroyed on earth yet. We still have pain and grief but that pain does not have to rule us or define us. We don’t have to be surprised when bad things happen or evil appears. In fact, we can expect that darkness will try to strike back when the light advances. We can also have assurance that the light will conquer!
This Sunday, we’ll continue looking at the Christmas story and tell a part of it that rarely shows up in nativity plays. We’ll look at Matthew 2:13-23 as we see King Herod representing the twisted response that evil has to good and what God does with it. Join us as we explore “The Other Side of Christmas”.
