“Response to a King”

Jesus Christ enters our world as the newborn King. There can be room for only one king, so when a new one comes the old must go. This is why the earthly kings and those in power were so threatened by Him. However, Jesus’ kingdom is not a political or national kingdom but rather one that is spiritual and eternal. His kingdom still poses a threat, but it’s a threat to the “kings” that hold power over our lives not our governments. In many ways, we are the kings and queens of our own lives. What does that mean for us that a new king has arrived? Will we respond like the wise men and go seek Him or will we respond like King Herod and try to protect our own power? Join us this Sunday as we look at Matthew 2:1-12 and consider our “Response to a King”.

This Sunday is also the third Sunday in Advent as we will light the candle of joy. We will also be celebrating another baptism as Samantha Butterfield will share her testimony and enter the waters of baptism. Praise the Lord for three baptisms in three weeks! We still have the baptistry set up, so if you are a follower of Jesus but have not been baptized, now is a great time to do it!
