“Victorious Peace”
We tend to paint the picture of Jesus’ birth as an idyllic, quiet scene. However, it probably wasn’t the most silent of nights! Jesus was born in a stable among animals in the middle of a town that was so filled with people that there wasn’t a single spare bedroom available. Add to that a woman in labor followed by surprise guests from the sheep fields and it probably wasn’t a quiet evening!
Christmas is a time that we celebrate the peace that has been won for us. The act of establishing peace is not necessarily quiet. It took dynamic, powerful action to secure our peace. This Sunday, we’ll be looking behind the scenes of the classic nativity portrait to see the spiritual battle that was taking place during the birth of Christ and the implications it has on us all. We’ll be reading one of the most powerful Christmas passages in the Bible - Revelation 12 and will discover the freedom of “Victorious Peace”.
