“Beyond Brokenness”
As we journey through the book of Genesis, we are discovering that the people that God chooses to work through often don’t seem particularly worthy or deserving in our eyes. In Genesis chapters 25 and 27 we get a clear view of the brokenness and dysfunction in Isaac and Rebekah’s family. In this household, brothers deceive each other, parents show favoritism and children lie to their parents. There is hurt, pain and resentment. Yet this is the family that God chose to bring forward His people and ultimately give us His Son, Jesus Christ. If God can use them, He can use anyone!
This Sunday, we’ll be looking at this story and how God moves “Beyond Brokenness”. Many of us have brokenness in our lives whether from our family of origin, from other people or from our own choices. In Christ, we are not defined by our brokenness. We are defined by His love and His grace. He can redeem even the most painful situation and give us hope even in the midst of our scars.
