“That’s My King”
Whether we are talking about politics, the workplace or our own lives there is often a struggle for “power” and leadership. However, when we look at leadership in the way that Jesus models it we see that proper use of power is to serve others not ourselves. Jesus has the qualifications and the rights to be the king of Israel and the king of the whole world. However, He does not seize that power to for his own purposes. Instead, he takes the role of a Servant King. He humbly and sacrificially serves with royal strength and dignity. He is a king like no other and we are his kingdom. We often want to be the kings and queens of our own realm and to be the ones in charge. However, true freedom comes when we realize that we are not capable of reigning and we give the throne of our lives to the one who is trustworthy and able to lead. This Sunday we’ll be looking at John 12:1-19 including the anointing of Christ and his entry into Jerusalem where he is publicly recognized as the Messiah King. Join us online as we look to Jesus and say, “That’s My King!”
