“Poverty Alleviation the Jesus Way”
There is pain and brokenness in our world right now. When we hear about war in Ukraine or crime and poverty in our own city, how do we respond? Often, it is with disengagement or a sense of distanced sadness or fear. Sometimes, we feel motivated to pray, give financially or take some kind of action but we can wonder if what we do really matters. The truth is that God cares deeply for the poor and marginalized. He also cares deeply for you. He could bring peace, justice and healing on His own but He chooses to invite us to partner with Him so that we can be changed and transformed in the process. When you see pain and brokenness, it is an opportunity. Not an opportunity for you to be the hero and fix everything, but an opportunity for you to enter into the brokenness and journey alongside towards healing in Christ.
This Sunday, we will be looking at Luke 10:1-37 as we take a fresh look at some familiar passages and learn about “Poverty Alleviation the Jesus Way”. Our guest speaker will be Brett Bymaster who has served as a pastor for many years and is currently the Executive Director for Healing Grove Health Center in San Jose. Brett and his wife, Dr. Angela Bymaster, founded Healing Grove to provide holistic health, soul and culture care for all who want it. They have been actively involved in living among, loving and serving the poor and disenfranchised. We look forward to having Brett speak to us from his experience of being engaged with Christ in our world and having him share with us from God’s Word.
